8 Years of Committing to My Daily Yoga Practice: A Journey of Healing ✨

Eight years ago, in August 2018, I made a life-altering promise to myself. I committed to starting with just 5 to 15 minutes of yoga every day, drawing on whatever little I knew of the practice. I took the first step and never looked back.
My journey began from a breaking point. Growing up, I was always a fragile child who caught fevers and colds easily. But a definitive turning point came in May 2016, when a severe amoebiasis infection left me suffering from chronic gut issues like IBS, colitis, and intermittent stomach pain. When standard medical tests couldn't find a clear cause, I asked myself, Do I want to normalize this gut issue and live with it forever? The answer was a definitive no.
That resolve is what drove me to step onto the mat daily. My practice quickly deepened from simple daily moments into dedicated study, enrolling in camps with Isha (Inner Engineering), classes at The Yoga Institute (TYI), and eventually completing a 900-hour Teacher Training Course, Diploma in Yoga Therapy, MA in Yogashastra, and Pre- & Postnatal Yoga Certification.
Over the last eight years, this consistent practice has completely transformed my life:
Gut Recovery: By combining daily yoga with holistic Ayurvedic medicine and simple Siddha-based dietary adjustments, my gut issues gradually healed.
Mental & Hormonal Health: When severe hormonal and emotional struggles hit in 2020–2021, my practice gave me the strength to heal. Rather than taking prescribed antidepressants, I successfully navigated the episode using a holistic combination of daily yoga, homeopathy, Ayurveda, and expressive arts.
Total Transformation: In 2022, I reached a point out of the overweight spectrum for the first time. Today, I am strong, healthy, and emotionally better, keeping active through yoga, meditation, strength training, trekking, and dance.
Yoga and Ayurveda truly saved my life. What began as a desperate search for physical relief has grown into a deep passion for sharing these life-altering practices with others.
